Seven Magic Mountains
A girls’ trip to see Usher in concert at his Las Vegas residency led me to the Seven Magic Mountains. I’ve done the whole Vegas thing for both business and pleasure - the conferences, fine dining, parties…all of the things…so I wanted to see a different side of Vegas this trip. I found The Seven Magic Mountains in my online research — it’s an art installation in the Invanpah Valley, just 20 minutes off the strip.
Yes, I totally rented a car for a few hours upon arriving at LAS, and raced out to the Mojave Desert to beat sunset and snap a few pics. Thanks to Serena and her girlfriends, who were my models, and went along with my crazy plan to sneak in a quick photoshoot the first evening of the trip.
A few quick facts about the Seven Magic Mountains:
They are boulders stacked on top of each other, standing 30 feet tall
The art installation was created by Ugo Rondinone, a Swiss artist
Entrance and parking to the Seven Magic Mountains is free
Seven Magic Mountains is just 10 miles south of the Las Vegas strip (about 20 minutes)
I would not recommend ride-share (Uber/Lyft) to get to Seven Magic Mountains; the location is kind of remote, so getting back could be a challenge
We paid for a single day car rental using National, which was cheaper than a round-trip Uber/Lyft ride would have been
We arrived a little later than I had planned, missing golden hour, but blue hour was incredible. It’s amazing how rich blue hour is in the desert. Serena was gorgeous as ever! And those views!! WHEWWWWWW….. I love our Florida greens, but the desert was such a treat!
